HPEC challenges students through a series of individual and team rounds on economics knowledge at the Advanced Placement(AP) Microeconomics and Macroeconomics levels as well as economic news, history, recent research, and applications in a wide variety of fields such as education and the environment. Tiger Global Case Competition

The TGCC is the world’s first virtual business case competition for high school students(aged 13-18). There are no geographical barriers to participation due to the virtual nature of the competition-- it is open to students from all parts of the world. It is for students who have a knack for entrepreneurship. If you think that you have a million-dollar idea in mind but are afraid of not being taken seriously because you’re a teenager, then this competition is the space for you to express your creativity and innovation!

Case competitions serve as the perfect kickstarts for developing careers in any industry. They push young minds to think outside the box, to identify problems in the world that might’ve missed the common glance, and create and strategize their own cases to solve such problems. Students can look through the lenses of management consultants and solve real-world business problems. Every year, the TGCC provides a case study associated with a problem that teams of students are required to solve in a given period of time. Judgment is conducted on the basis of attention to detail, creativity, and business acumen. The essence of the competition is for students to emulate business practices and apply technical knowledge in real-world scenarios. Winning teams receive cash rewards and scholarships.

Wharton’s Investment Competition

With the amount of prestige associated with Ivy League schools, it would be a disgrace if they didn’t match the standards that society attributes to them. Thankfully, not only do these prestigious universities meet our irrationally high expectations, but they also manage to exceed them! Wharton, the business school of the University of Pennsylvania, organizes a global competition annually for business-aspiring high school students known as the Wharton’s Investment Competition. It is an online investment simulation for high school students(grades 9-12) along with guiding teachers. Teams examine a brief case study featuring a potential client and are tasked with working collaboratively to meet that client’s short and long-term investment goals as they try to win his or her business. Participating teams are equipped with an approved stock list (a selection of domestic and international equities) and the Wharton Investment Simulator (WInS), which allows them to buy and sell stocks. Judgment criteria centrally revolve around strength and articulation of team strategies. The competition promises to acquaint students with the financial skills for a lifetime!
